The local media weather people are all convinced that the computer models are correct and high pressure will remin over our area, keeping things sunny and dry... This will probably be the case for the next day or two, although I am beginning to see what could be the development of the same pattern that brought California the last two stormy periods... While the first few storms of the season are almost forgotten, the last stormy period will be remembered for quite some time...

As anyone out there who reads this page knows, I began discussing the last stormy period (and most major stormy periods) about a week in advance... I also kept this site updated throughout the period... In the next 24 hours or so, I will feel much more certain as to whether another major stormy period is indeed developing... If this scenario develops, we could see precipitation beginning by Sunday... While the developing pattern is similar to the one that brought us our last two major stormy periods, there are some differences... It looks like preciptiation amounts will be lighter and the airmass is somewhat colder, which means we should see lower snow levels.... This is not only good news for the local Ski areas but for those vicimized by the recent flooding... Lower snow levels should mean less runoff and therefore, less flooding...

Be advised however, that the jet stream has been blocked for about a week, sending approaching storms to the north of our area... It now appears that the jet is splitting... The development of a southern branch could result in moist tropical air colliding with polar marine air riding the jet... This condition usually results in heavy preciptiation amounts for the western states...

Stay tuned to this site and I will update in advance of impending storminess... If this page does not change, we should continue to experience fair weather for at least one to two days...

Looks like we are in the clear for a couple days... The next precipitation we can expect will probably arrive late Tuesday or early Wednesday... This system will bring light to moderate showers to our area... Things should clear out by Thursday and look pretty good for a few days thereafter...

Note: Circumstances within my control dictate that this site may not be updated for a few weeks... You'll just have to rely on your local forecasters... I am sure there are SO many of you out there who need me ha ha!

Enjoy!
